Schedules Live and Jersey Info

I'm sure you're all just as excited as I am about the upcoming games and one more week of practice prior to our first match against the Eagles (from here on out the teams will be referenced by Huskies (HMS), Eagles (ISMS) and Comanches (KMS) ). The boys have been really focused and gell'ing well as teams. I'm excited to see what one more week will do for their communication and unity.

Thanks for the quick turnaround on forms and jersey payments. The jersey's have been ordered and will arrive for number printing just in time for our first match. In the event we lack the time for printing, I'll collect the jersey's after the game and we'll get them printed before the 2nd game. Please make sure each player has black shorts and black socks. Most have these from various teams. If you're in need, please let me know ASAP and I'll help make arrangements.

Try-out Results

Sorry for the wait folks. It's been a crazy weekend (of which I'll spare you the details). Hopefully you're all exciting to get working tomorrow and would more than love to know the preliminary results of the try-outs. Please note that these are preliminary and may adjust as we get closer to the first game and possibly throughout the season. We have a very talented set of players and an overwhelming large set of 8th graders.

Please also remember that $20 needs to be delivered to Coach Greg tomorrow in order to get the uniform order submitted by Monday night. Lastly, if you haven't filled out the waiver, please do so along with the interest form so that we can order the correct uniform size.

Try-out Results...

Just a teaser note to let you know the coaches are reviewing what we saw and our impressions over 1h 45m of time with the Huskies. In reality, the time spent is not nearly sufficient enough to gauge each player's potential but we're in a time crunch. Shifts will be made as we go so if the placement isn't as desirable as they want, there's still time. We should be ready to post the results later tonight if all goes well.

As a reminder, please bring a check (if you haven't done so already) in the amount of $20 to Monday's practice. We'll put in our order that night and I prefer to not float the extra $ so please don't forget.

1st Day of Try-outs and More Info

Thanks to all that showed up today for try-outs. We had a good look at those that attended and have a good feel for how the players will groove and mess together. Thanks to Mr. Jeremy Gunn for his help today and willingness to help out through the season.

At this point no players will be cut unless we have a huge influx of players tomorrow. As such, we need to begin collecting monies for jerseys and field fees. Please send a check in the amount of $20 tomorrow with your player, or reach out to me directly if you have alternate plans or concerns. We'll be placing the jersey order by the end of the week. Please make checks out to "Greg Hanson."

Also, we have a benefactor that has donated some lightly used cleats, shorts and sock. For any individual that may be in need, please contact me directly and we'll see what can be put together. For those that have donations that can be made, excess donations will be given to a friend embarking in April on a mission trip to Africa. If you have spare cleats, please send them with your player tomorrow.

Lastly, tomorrow's try out will be the last practice for the week and will end at 5:15 as I need to leave for a match. Our normal practice times will be 4:30pm - 5:30pm on Mon/Wed. Games will commence 4/8 (pending schedule finalization).
What I may look like tomorrow :)

Try-out Reminder - 3/18 - 3/19

Just a quick reminder of the upcoming try-out this coming Mon/Tues (3/18 - 3/19). We'll be working on the lower practice fields from 4:30 - 5:30 on Mon and 4:30 - 5:15 on Tues (have to cut it short to go coach a 6pm game in Keller).

Please be sure to have your player bring cleats, shin guards, water if possible (not sure we'll have access to the fountains in the school) and a ball. If I don't have a release form from you yet, please make sure you fill out both forms located here.

Have a great weekend, enjoy Spring Break and see you on Mon. Go Huskies!!!

Socks, Shorts or Cleats Needs Along with Players

As we near the tryouts (see last post/e-mail), you may be concerned over personal gear suitable for the club teams. If you're in need of sock, shorts or cleats, please let me know (in confidence) as we have a benefactor with a few extra supplies willing to help.

Also, please help spread the word about the club to your friends and their players. We want a well rounded couple of teams and numbers will greatly help us achieve this end goal.

And in the spirit of competition, Eagles Middle School Soccer Club (read Indian Springs) conducted their tryout this week getting the jump on the rest of the clubs. They have fielded 33 players and are forming their respective 2 teams. Fortunately or unfortunately, they only had 4 girls come out to the tryouts thus were not able to form an independent team for them. We'll need to see how our numbers play out and make an appropriate determination post tryout. For now, ladies, come out and help show up the boys ;)

Also, I have spoken with Coach Martinez, the girls HS soccer coach at Central and his assistant Coach Arias, and they have agreed to join the ranks of volunteers willing to help with the club program. I am still working on connecting with the FR boys coach and will let you know how that progresses.

Enjoy your Spring Break, stay healthy, and dream of futbol!

Try-Outs After Spring Break

I sincerely appreciate all of the forms that have been submitted in preparation for the upcoming tryouts. Hopefully everyone has been receiving notice, or at least your players, posted by the school regarding the up coming tryouts. For those that may need a reminder:

Mar 18th and 19th will be our primary days of tryouts. We'll hold these from 4:30 - 5:30pm at Hillwood on the lower practice fields just south of the main competition football field.

Here's the potential schedule going forward:

Games:
Mondays on - 4/8, 4/22, 4/29, 5/6
Bye week for all teams is 4/15 - due to Track conflicts
A team - 5:30 start time
B team - 6:30 start time
Field locations - TBD once official schedule is received from the scheduler.

Practices:
All practices are at HMS on the practice field.
Weekly Practice starting 3/25 - we will practice on Mondays and Wednesdays 4:30p-5:30p after school

Team placements will be completed by 3/21 and announced no later than 3/22 via e-mail; all kids should be excited to play, regardless of squad!

Fees will be announced soon.  When advised cash or check made to me will be necessary so I can place the uniform order quickly.
We are trying to cap the fee at $20...which would cover field use, uniforms.  We are NOT going to make a profit off the kids.
We will advise the closest dollar amount and if there is minor difference in savings..we will either return over all students and if not enough to spread equally we will make a donation to the school athletic department.

Any other donations received will be directly applied to field and lighting fees and for uniform printing.

Thanks for all you do to keep our kids in soccer - see you on the Pitch !
Coach Greg
